a Very special 400odd k's with my son ...

As stated in a previous RR, I'm in a bit of a "sabbatical" as far as biking is concerned ... Maybe a midlife crisis : , maybe just looking for something else ...

My boy turned 15 a few months ago, and we convinced Swambo at last!!! , that he can go on a proper ride with me ...
Well, I didn't want to overdo it for a first run, so decided to do something quite civilized ... It wasn't long, before he declared his preference for gravel - so we stayed as far away from tar as possible ... :3some:

From George we went over Outeniqua, kept on the Langkloof road till just after Louvain, before we turned left onto the Kammanassie route ... Piece of tar past Uniondale, and then right on the Hartbeesriver road towards Baviaans ...

We arrived at Uitspan well in time for the Springbok/Aussie game ... There were quite a few holiday makers, as well as a bunch of KTM'ers from Plett..

What an atmosphere to watch a game - especially when the "Boks" manage to get points on the board!!  atch:

This morning we took the Willowmore - Klaarstroom route ...
At De Rust we enjoyed a good brunch, then the gravel from Dysselsdorp to Zebra and back home ...

Great outing - may I say: "Quality time & memories" !!!

Yip, it is special spending time like that with your kids, when you are focussed on nature and each other, with no interruptions from electronic media. My son and I just did the Ladybrand bash together, and we both enjoyed it extremely. Easy riding and lazy chats. Made me feel much more human again. Good on you for doing it, May there be many more trips!

I too experienced riding with my son on several occasions, all I can say is treasure those days for they become few. as for Swambo, how about: "teach your child the love of bikes and he will never have money for drugs"
