Have your valves checked gents...

On the 1000's and 1100's the valve check interval is every +-24 000 km.

It is an expensive and time consuming service, because you have to remove a lot of stuff to adjust the valves (fairings, tank, airbox, radiator?, throttle bodies, valve cover, cam shaft). Many people on forums would advise you to stretch this service out to save the bucks, because "on brand XYZ my valves stayed in spec for 100 000 km's".

The dealer checked mine this week at 32 000 km, and I am glad they did. The 4 exhaust valves were all perfect. On the intake side, 2 were at the upper end of the range (slightly loose), and the other 2 were slightly out of spec and required shims. You can do it yourself, but it is a bit of a process, and slightly out of my comfort zone.

Here is a video of the eventual check/adjustment process. While you're in there, also check/replace the spark plugs.
