Air Filter Oil

I look after a number of bikes and I’m starting to get the feeling that spray type makes the air filters hard. I might use Fuchs liquid type oil on a bike that will go to a farm and get zero maintenance until I see it again, but mostly I use Spanjaard spray oil ( mainly because I got a box full from a rep). But I’m starting to think that all the spray types tend to harden the filters. The filter recovers after washing, but I’m starting to get concerned.

Anybody else that observed something similar? Or the exact opposite?
