My wife and I and my mom and my dad are leaving for Rhodes this weekend from KZN and the EC respectively.
I think we have our route sorted from KZN, we want to leave early and then do:
PMB - Underburg - Swartberg on tar, then Matatiele (dirt) - Mount Fletcher (tar) - Pitseng Pass (dirt) - Naudes Nek (dirt) - Rhodes Destination.
My parents can only leave at around 14h00 from Somerset East and they are afraid that dusk might catch them on the last section towards Rhodes, which apparently is a very bad section of road?
It looks like they can either do:
Cookhouse - Cradock - Tarkastad - Queenstown - Cala - Elliot - Rhodes (465 km) (Not sure but I think all but the last section to Rhodes is tar?)
or Cookhouse - Cradock - Hofmeyr - Burgersdorp - Aliwal Noord - Lady Grey - Barkley Oos - Rhodes (497 km)
Any recommendations regarding any of the routes?
