HSK you must now watch out, she will ride better than you from now on.

I can just imagine what such an effort can do to to your confidence.

Let it come girl, we want to read more.

Day 1 continued:

Rally riding is weird in the sense that: They tell you GO at the starting line and you get really excited, but you can't really GO, because there are speed limits :p So it's like, yay I'm racing, but not really! Not until you get to the special stage anyway :D

I remember we had a proper 400km or so liaison on Day 1, going through some scenic dirt roads where we fueled up at Kuruman.

It felt almost like I was day dreaming through a lot of the liaison stage. It's a strange feeling when you are riding in an unfamiliar place and you actually have no idea where you are going. You follow the roadbook, but you don't really know where it will lead you to. I thought that was pretty cool, like solving a puzzle ;D!

The road eventually led us to where we started the special stage in the riverbed.
When you start a special in a rally you get a time card. This gets marked once you successfully finish on the other end of the special stage. Everyone briefly stopped to put in the next part of the roadbook, the one with the many danger signs. The marshal told me to be careful where we enter the riverbed, as someone has already gone over the handlebars there. Oh, that's nice... What a way to kick things off :p All the photographers waiting in the tough sections to take pics doesn't make things any less stressful either.

I put on my best river bed riding face and make an entrance... I didn't roll down the embankment so that was a good start at least :ricky:

Now by my best riverbed riding face I really do mean I'm going into survival mode. I think I may have done a total of 10kms of riverbed riding in my life, ever. Once at Dewildt and once during a roadbook training session. Upon closer inspection I saw the roadbook said there's 40km of riverbed riding coming up... I still thought to myself, **** this is gonna be tough. I was right.

The start of the 1st Amageza Special stage in the riverbed.

I will add some short video clips with the next post so you guys can get a better idea of what the terrain was like. I had a problem with my camera which only recorded 25min of Amageza for some reason though. Will make the best of it and edit the footage soon.

Awesome stuff Minxy!!

We will have no problem watching the full 25 minutes I can promise you that! Don't edit it too much; we want to ride with you :deal:

Ek lees ook saam

Minxy (wrote Minky first  >:D)  I see you have some Speedbrain parts on the bike - bash plate, exhaust, fairing … where were these 'stolen' from? I am sure you will get to it but still wondering what the loss of engine oil was from? Great respect for taking this on.  :thumleft: Had hoped to be there myself but my son's enduro racing sapped my resources!

Great stuff! You deserve a lot of respect for your resolute efforts. Well done.

I'm enjoying your report.

It's from one of Bavarian BMW's Speedbrain 450's which they built up for the Namaqua rally. The mechanic said the one bike was accident damaged, so they took some parts off of it for mine.

Hey Minxy, you are quite some girl. Followed your ride with great interest. Huge respect young lady. :3some:
Will you do a separate post on why you decided to tackle this event, the choice of bike and the upgrades you did.
