AnyDogs near Clarens or Bethlehem

Hi Dogs looking for advice on condition of main tar roads from Clarens to Graaf Reniet. Do we take the roads just above Lesotho or is it better to head back North to Bethlehem then on towards N1 and back down via Middelberg? Advice appreciated
