Saw a guy outside Willow Bridge this morning riding a KLR. He was wearing slops, shorts, a riding jacket, kneck brace, mandatory helmet, but no gloves. His pillion was dressed the same bar the kneck brace. I just don't get it. :-\
With bikes becoming a popular commuting alternative this has become an all to common site, except for the kneck brace! Everyday I see girls riding scooters with no jacket, no gloves and an open face helmet :'( (Just ask N[]vA, https://wilddog.net.za/forum/index.php?topic=22198.0) .
Then there are the traffic police riding big bikes (well protected from the wind by their fancy screens) at speeds in excess of 120km/h with no protective gear at all. Not that it is their duty to set an example, but I think these okes need better protection, unless they are exempt from pain as they are the in obeying rules of the road! As long as they land on their heads, they should be fine. :
I think it is the responsability of the experienced more responsible rider and regular crasher to encourage the less informed to dress for the occasion. Just a thought.
