...have a spare seat on one of the backup vehicles.
In return for winning the auction, you get to help drive and watch the antics of the rest of us.
Short of getting a bike and competing, the very next best way to watch a rally is as support staff. The photo's opportunities and experiencing the ups and downs of rally doesn't get much better from this seat. Or, if you plan on ever doing one, supporting one can go a long way to figuring out what you need for the next one. That’s what Justin did last year with me as my support.
Make no mistake it’s just about as hard. Little sleep, in a tent, driving huge distances, dealing with panicky and pissed off riders, helping to fix broken stuff and organise miracles at the drop of a hat.
You will need to have 11 days spare from Thursday 27 August to Sunday 6 September.
All your food, accommodation and transport will be organised from start to finish. All you need to bring is your own tent, sleeping bag and other personal gear.
2 options
1. Travel with team from Cape Town: Be available and ready to depart from Cape Town at 06h00 on Thursday 27 August and return to Cape Town by 18h00 on Sunday 6 September.
2. Meet us in Kimberley at scrutineering at 08h00 on Friday 28 August – travel with team for 7 days of rally and return to Kimberley on Saturday 5 September
You need to be able, willing and be a team player. A valid passport
If you can’t swing spanners then you must be at least a good spanner-passer-on’er and excellent coffee bringer and tent packer. A huge can do attitude and a sense of humour is par for the course.
You will be able to view every aspect of a rally;
You get to sit in the riders briefings
Help wrench
Ogle bike porn and meet the Rockstars of rally
Watch the starts and some of the racing
Up at ungodly hours and to bed near midnight
Get on the podium with us
For your money, I think you’ll get a team T-shirt…. Maybe (budget dependent).
It would cost you R4k alone in petrol money if you did it on your own!
Bids open at R100.00
Winning bid will be whomever posts here or on our Facebook page with the highest bid before 8pm 7th August 2015.
