Auto Alpina BMW trackday @ Swartkops

Not a "real" ride report in the true spirit of Adventure riding, but a ride report none the less!!!

After recieving the sms "call to arms" from our friends at Auto Alpina, Guss Porra was quick to point out that a little track time and some training is never a bad thing. Afterall, we all do a fair amount of road riding, so it was definatly a point to ponder! :mwink:

Plan was to meet just off the highway @ 07h00 and make our way to the race track. Trsaining commenced at 008h30 and after a riders briefing , it was time to saddle up and hit the asphalt (not literally :biggrin. First off was a 8 lap warm up, then split into various classes depending on your lever of experience. Guss Porra and Beemerman were in the "Advanced Group" and I was in the "Beginners group" being my first time on a track.

Having TKC's on my bike did add to the levels of attention required, not to mention the amouont of "Butt Pucker" when the ABS did its thing under hard braking. Bemmerman and Guss porra were damn quick on the track....

Many different bikes were present spanning the range on offer from the Bavarian manufacturer.

Was good to meet the chaps , and even Doggone made an appearence.....

All in all a great day, and something a little different.

Do you know if there is open days such as this for all makes? I think all training is beneficiary.

See the instructors hang on the inside.  Aint the adventure guys trained to "hang on" the out side.

His name is Kazhek and is my cousin's fiance. He is an instructor at BMW rider academy and she works in the office handling the course bookings.
