Hey guys. I'm sitting with a '07 1200 GS and since purchase in September 2014, have done almost 20k km, mostly commuting. (She is currently on 62k km) For the last 2 months I noticed that she is not starting as easily as always, but will keep her on the trickle charger overnight, most nights.
About 2 weeks ago she only "clicked" when I tried to start her the one Monday morning (haven't connected the charger that weekend), so had to jump her from the cage.
I took her that morning straight to Mike Hopkins Kawasaki to fit a new battery, as I was sure that was the problem. (Before anyone ask - Mike Hopkins is walking distance from work, and I get exceptional service there from the sales to the workshop, and a battery is a battery!)
They phoned me back to say the battery is fine, and I went over where they showed me the battery on their tester, and it all looked perfect.
Since that morning I kept her on the charger every day, but this afternoon I battled to get her to start after work again.
I ride with my brights and a set of 1000 lumen spots always on. I also have a tankbag that is connected to the battery, but with nothing charging in it. I almost never use the heated grips.
Now my question - can it be the battery? Or is it the charging of the bike that is not sufficient? I am going on a 9 day Namibia trip end of September, and don't want to sit with this problem there.
