I have seen a few times when recommendations for certain bikes are asked that weight comes into play .......especially when it is the likes of a GS 1200 vs mid range bikes.
Having just got a 2004 GS 1200 for my brother in law and obviously having checked the specs etc, I was amazed to see that a Transalp is in the same weigth category .....
So it would seem one musn't always be fooled by the perspective of size !!!!!
Herewith some bikes and their weights ........interesting !
2004 GS 1200 - 199kg
2009 GS 1200 - 205 kg
GS 800 - 178 kg dry / 209 kg wet
Transalp 700 - 214 kg
KLR 650 - 175 kg Dry
GS 650 dakar - 176 kg dry / 198 wet
2009 GS 650 (800) - 171 kg dry / 198 kg wet
Could not find all the wet and dry weights in my quick search, but nonetheless ...pretty close in comparison to the 1200!
