sunday i was back at rhino park to ride the 450.the fact that the jan staal team were there made me a little apprehensive as this was going to turn into some very high speed testing.
the top yamaha riders who were thinking of going to bmw were also there.
once again the 450 truly impressed, this time i teamed up with denver from auto alpina and as most of you know denver isnt afraid to test the ~full potential~ of any new bike.
this time i rode the quarry and mx track,my god the performance is truly astounding for a 450 and the long sand section at the back of the track was an incrediable experience, really thick ,deep loose sand full of ruts and we had the bikes pinned!hardly a wobble,so this must be where that fancy front sprocket, swingarm shaft comes into its own.
the mx track proved once again how good the rear suspension is ,every landing proved to be smooth no matter how badly i landed.
the bike also proved to be totally waterproof! a huge water hole appeared and i was going way to fast to avoid it,the resulting wave almost tore me from the bike but knocking down a cog saw the machine fly out of the muddy watery mess with aplomb, the bike can really make up for loss of talent.
i stopped and started most of the afternoon and the battery never failed to turn and start the motor the first time ,of course only time will tell how strong the battery is but why should it be a problem ?i have had batteries last at three years on all my other bikes.
one thing that i was wondering, most of the big yammies and other generic enduro bikes are able to fit bigger tanks as they are in the normal place ,will this be a problem on a big race for the bm? as it will proberly only be able to do 200 km tops on the 8 liter tank or are all the regional and national races made up of small laps where you have the time to refill.
bacvk home i sat om my x challenge and it felt so beeeeeg.
