We encountered an injured rider who was being attended to by the medic. They were in contact with the rescue helicopter and we decided to hang around to watch the chopper land.
The first tricky descent really tested me mentally. I'm fairly new to adventure riding and standing at the top looking down I could not believe that I had to ride my bike down there!! A few words of advice and encouragement from Colin Gallop got me going and before I knew it, I was at the bottom!!
And then the crazy descent where I have to admit I needed serious encouragement to continue....... eepwall: eepwall:
My severe Acrophobia (not fear of exhausts) kicked in and I was sweating like a pig and looking for all sorts of excuses not to go down there. I walked my bike a couple of times and also had to call for help twice. This was the scariest thing I've ever done on a bike! Big thanks to Colin Gallop and Bertus the medic for your help!
Day 2 saw us mixing and matching parts of Red 1 & 2 as well as Orange 2 to get the best of all the remaining technical bits done. Lekker surprise climb out of Nondela Estate that warmed us up for Bezuidenhouts Pass which was has deteriorated significantly since last year's Trophy.
