Hidden in a narrow valley just south of the Floriskraal Dam (yes, the famous one that filled from empty to overflowing in the space of a few hours during the 1981 Laingsburg floods) - lies a winding gravel road that crosses a (mostly dry) river bed through the Boesmanspoort. Not many people know of this road and you have to be a fairly serious pass hunter to want to ride it. But if the sound of a creaking windmill, and the dusty silence of a Karoo landscape brings a smile to your face, then this one is perhaps for you.
