I have been looking for a bike for my son for sometime now. He turns 15 next week and I want him to ride the bike offroad with me for the next year before I let him loose on the roads.
I therefore need a bike that he can ride on gravel as well as on the road. Something that will be robust and that he can fit onto. This seemed to be the biggest problem as his feet would not easily reach the ground on most of the offroad bikes that are available. I had my heart set on a Honda NXR125, but he is way too short. I looked at the Big Boys, Gomotos and various chinese imports but was not comfortable with any of them. Then I walked into Linex Yamaha on saturday .......
All I could wish for.. Yamaha DT125. They delivered it today. 2005 model with 2000 km's on the clock. Good as new!! R15K
2 smoke..kickstart. He will have to buy his own bike with a happy button. > ;D
I want him to change plugs, oil, maintain the chain and learn about bike maintenance in general. He will appreciate his next bike much more that way.
On the plus side , this bike has a lot of power and weighs very little. He will have a huge advantage over me when we ride the technical stuff....hmmmmmmmm.....maybe I need a light bike as well > ;D
One thing though .....his birthday is only next week and I have hidden the bike inside our trailer as you see in the photo.
I can't wait....I mean ....I am sure he would not be able to wait if he knew!!!
