Budget friendly motorcycle gear for beginner?

Hey guys,

I am hoping that you could educate me about buying motorcycle gear (Helmets, Jackets, Gloves, etc.). I am looking for motorcycle gear that offers the most protection but does not break the bank, what would you guys suggest?

What type of gear would you say is a must have AND what type of gear would you say is nice to have?
