Callous's when riding

'kay all, stop sniggering about how I get callous's on my hands, think straight!

I get no issues with my pure road bike, but thats kinda to be expected with smooth tar and the finesse needed for road riding.
After 4 days on the DS KTM 640 with standard grips, riding off road mostly, I had some serious callous's on both palms. I used to think it was "death grip" but I am becoming slightly more aware of my hand grip when I ride and it really doesnt feel like I am hanging on for dear life all the time. I thought it may be the grips on the 640 since riding a 650 Dakar back to back with my KTM, the Dak's grips felt like the flesh on a soft breast..., but I now have a 400 EXC and after the first serious off road play session, torn callous on the right hand.

So, from the collective pool of experience, what can u suggest?
I reckon my choices are:
- I really do have death grip and need to relax
- The grips in both bikes suck big time
- my gloves (common denominator in both bikes) are not as cool as I think they are.
