Hello dogs,
I am hoping someone can give me some information...
Me and 4 friends are riding from Cairo to Cape Town at the end of the year.
I am currently living in Australia (working visa) and will be sending my Australian bought and registered bike to Cairo and then back to Australia from Cape Town.
I have hit a snag with the Carnet for the bike.
Because I am still a South African resident, the Carnet can not be used to temporarily import the motorcycle into South Africa. The internet is not being much help as most scenarios assume that a vehicle will be imported with the purpose of staying in South Africa. Will I be able to get a TIP at the border and then hand that back once the bike gets shipped back to Australia? Or will I have to go through a longer process that I am not seeing?
Thanks!
J
