I was asked to come along for my charm, good looks, excellent companionship and personality.

Hardy is such a sweet talker, because it was only much later that the actual reason was that I am in possession of a Code EC, or in old money, Code 14.

He was buttering me up and being all romantic that he’d put me up in my own chalet at Kaleo.

After driving up from Cape Town in a glorified bread van that apparently held some top secret secrets and much laughing and braaing later that evening, my morning constitution was greeted with this....

He hadn’t reneged on the Chalet promise.

Confusingly, the next day all his lovey-doveyness disappeared and I was put to hard labour!

I’m a kantoor jockey with soft hands and high cholesterol, so manhandling stuff, packing, spannering and lifting things heavier than a paper clip was quite a shock.

The quiver of toys was impressive!

And so, the day was spent making sure everything was utterly, absolutely, completely, securely, undeniably, considerably, fabulously tied down. And organised. And checked. And triple checked.

Look closely into the bread van, see? That was what we were transporting.

And of course, the keys to the future too!

That BEAST is truly a BEAST. If you had to line all 4x4’s side by side, least to most, that thing would only ever feature on one end. And it’s not the Alpha side. It is definitively the Omega of all 4x4’s. Period.

38 degree tipping angle....

Eish I would be crapping myself if I was in something as high as a Unimog at that angle.

Looking forward to this report. Keep it coming.

I was so lulled by Hardy’s sweet talk, I woke up just after midday when we were passing Vanrynsdorp.

I can’t remember breakfast other than I managed a two course pap and eggs, toast, bacon and coffee in under a minute.

All of them had been up since 4am.

I make no apologies! Don’t sweet talk me and then go hard core!

It was a long lovely day getting to Springbok.

There we had a lively R&P debate, braai and early to bed.

Next morning was the epic border crossing.

I was being arty farty at sunrise....

Steinkopf.

I’d only just become conscious.

But the sprawling metropolis of Grunau’ waited.

It was a long slow day.

That night, Kobus lost his fear of me snoring him out of Namibia.

You love sweet talk Andrew...
Very few people here knows this, but you are actually a moerse nice bloke that can graft, with the best of them.
Even Kobus who seldom says something about anyone, mentioned that you are growing on him :imaposer:

But of course he's growing on me.  I mean, such a humble, modest and demure personality - what's not to like.

Further to this, despite all that was going on, his unselfish, altruistic demeanour allows him to take lots of pictures of ..... uhm .... everyone else working.  :lol8:
