I love motorcycles and dirt roads.
It has been a major part of my life for the last 15 years.
I am fortunate to have the time and resources to do a lot of it but lately I have lost a bit of the enthusiasm I once had.
The final 200km of every trip back into Cape Town on highways often battling crazy winds and stupid drivers has become a bit jaded.
There are very few if any dirt roads in the Western Cape I have not ridden multiple times.
But I still love bikes.
So at 64, after a stent for my heart, my dentist wants to replace 4 bottom teeth. At the cost of R90000-00.
Fuuuck ! It sucks getting old - big time.
After some serious contemplation and a brainwave from some of my friends we decided to get into some enduro action instead.
Screw the teeth.
Bought a YZ 250x instead.
My first ever enduro ride was at Kambodhi in Grabouw - silver route nogal.
What did I discover ?
Firstly that I thought I could ride a motorbike.
I was wrong.
Secondly I thought I was in good shape physically.
I was wrong.
But most importantly
I am back in love with motorcycling.
I will still do road trips but less frequently.
But right now I am slowly getting into shape.
And learning how to ride a motorbike.
