Then it happened I got a few instance of fishtailing. Self corrected.
And then...
I bike rolled on the Deep cycle battery. It's dead.
When I put it there it was because the boxes were full. I didn't want to raise the C of G of the bike and make a hole in the top case.
Now the battery is dead. I reconnected the old one it had 11.8v but with the warm engine it kicked on. I rode with no accessories. Not even the voltmeter.
I was just happy that it moved at all.
The choice was the slippy muck in the middle or the soft pull you of the road sides. Hard to keep speed on this **** and climb hill on the right side in case of encounter.
Talking of encounter. I was passed by 2 pickup truck then on a blind ill the third passed me. He was not all the way up that he had to swerve throwing a wave of muck to avoid a frontal. The road is very empty but not bare of vehicle.
Then the weather improved.
Expletive deleted scene missing.
I was travelling at about 30 kph when I got to a road crew. about 30 km South of Fort McPherson. They were widening the road in a process that seem to imvolve spredding 5 inches of what looks like cow manure then rolling it flat.
Except pickups and full sizes truck also use the road. I tried I really did try to stay in the truck ruts. But fell twice and finished killing my battery.
Now I need a boost every time I shut down or stall.
I finally made it to the ferry. Good everyone was telling how much better it was north of the ferry.
The approach and landing to the ferry is not the best setup I have ever seen.
I stopped the engine as it started stinking.
The other side.
The ferry is on a cable
Bill the ferryman gave me is jumper cable to keep until my return.
Getting across the water I felt like I just gone from bad to worse. But the road did improve.
I just missed the ferry.
I chatted with one of the locals. He got out of is truck to see the GK.
They don't see bikes like that too often.
I won't pretend it's the first ever GK or GS to go there but there aren't a lot.
The other side of the MacKenzie.
The road is straight as an arrow. Hard as concrete. As I got my nerves up I accelerated to 80 kph.
And then as I am tired and cold. With my wet feet complaining.
I went and found the campground. The one I was told was close to the Yamaha Dealership.
There my feet and body outvoted me on the "camping in a tent" idea. I went to a hotel I felt I couldn't afford.
Once in my room I raised my tent unfolded my bedroll and anything that need dry air.
I left a huge Bathring. Hot water over my body was really good. Should have sprung for a room with a bigger bath.
