Cush rubbers on rear wheel sprocket

The only bike I ever had with cush rubbers was my TM125 I think it was. And I had endless kak with the clips coming off, the sprocket pulling out of line etc. It was long time ago and probably due to lack of preventative maintenance.

Since then I've had a few XR's of different sizes, KDX, Husaberg KLX etc. none with cush rubbers as far as I'm aware.

What is the advantages of having cush rubbers? Suppose the sprocket and chains last longer?

Does it make any difference?
