I need some advice.  My Dakar (2002) waterpump has not given me any trouble thus far.  Bike now has 32K on the clock and as far as I can tell it has never been opened.  Should I open it up to check the condition or should I just leave it and wait for it to break.

My philosophy has always been "If it's not broken, don't mess with it!" but in this case I am in two minds.  I don't feel like having a buggered waterpump when I'm on a  ride 300km from home/help.

Do I just get a spare to carry along in case?
