...What a great-looking specimen. The tree’s not bad either.... ;)

Great report of a splendid trip!

And how your riding has progressed! Those roads are tricky for the very best riders.

Lovely report Zanie , it ticks all the boxes: unknown places that you explore by connecting the dots and then executing into reality ; its exciting and intriguing even for the reader .  And by riding quite a bit out of your comfort zone you are pushing yourself to become a very good rider indeed , very courageous and respect-worthy .  :notworthy:

Well done and thank you for sharing it so beautifully and meticulously afterwards. The photographs and video are spectacular . :love10:

Thanks all for the kind words. I always tend to wonder whether I'm over-stretching my expectations by throwing these missives at a time-deprived populace. It's a lot to wade through!

Ou Dooppoort used to be open many years ago but too many people in 4x4s that do not care about other peoples property caused the owner(s) to close the road.
Thanks for that bit of history. It's annoying when the few spoil something for the many. The 4x4 trail looks like it hasn't been maintained at all since its closure.

Papkuilsfontein was the event center of the 2007 GS Challenge.

Looks like you guys rode some sections of the same routes we did back then.

Part of the red route went up Gifberg pass and then across many private farms thereafter.
The riding was absolutely amazing and challenging.

Thank you for refreshing those memories of some of the most awesome riding I have done.

My parents (from the 4x4 set) visited Papkuilsfontein previously and asked whether they were bike friendly, thinking of trips for Lance and I. They relayed the story about its GS Challenge history and piqued our interest. I guess I can thank them for setting us in that direction and Lance for the crazy routing. The area is very interesting ride country and I'd love to go back there again.

Thanks. Ladies like you are there to show us that anything is possible! Therefore respect x 10 in return.

The photos are a bit of a cheat, since they're largely "freeze-frames" of videos. It just takes a mind-numbing amount of time to create them and then narrow it down to the best. I reduced them from 3700 to 220.

:thumleft: :hello2: :headbang: One of the few ride reports that made an impression on me.
