Right, they've discovered a broken spring on my KLR's balancer chain tensioner (the so-called doohickey) during the 30 000km service. No damage, and the mechs have locked the tensioner arm until a replacement spring arrives (under warranty). They've assured me it's totally safe to ride for another 5000k's or so before checking up again and fitting the new spring.

The doohickey is still intact, the scooter still goes. The spring is the first part that needed replacing apart from the usual bits that break off in falls. Not too bad I think.

As a consolation for the poor beast I've bought it some handguards (only R160 compared to the Touratech R700!). I am, and remain, yours truly, the King of Cheap.
