Thanks first of all to all the Katoom guys, that was just the type of info I was looking for.
Peaches has decided that the facelift 1200GS is far too fugly, (an opinion) does not want one.
Once she is able to ride again she will test ride the 990 KTM, if she doesn't like it she will shop around for a clean low mileage 'pre-facelift' 1200GS, there should be quite a few of those going begging shortly.....(None on this forum..... ;D)
If she goes the 990 KTM route, my 1150GSA will be sold and I will also buy a 990 KTM, if she goes the GS route, I will keep my GSA and look around for a clean low mileage 950 KTM when finances allow.
From what I have read, the KTM is a bit more expensive to maintain, but reliable to the point that I could probably repair minor issues 'next to the road'.
Comfort and fuel range is debateable, but we have 'Airhawks' and jerry cans.
I do believe that maintenance costs can be minimised by a bit of 'DIY', which I am quite happy with.
Also having had a few KTM's in my garage recently, I really think a parking spot should be reserved for either one or two, depends how the test ride goes....... ;D ;D
The 800GS was an option at one stage, but with a projected MINIMUM seat height of 900mm, Peaches would not be happy, so this option is cancelled.
