Sept 1999 model which means it has the starter torque limiter fitted and i have also added the output shaft seal retainer which Suzuki fitted from 2013 onwards.
But i am jumping ahead. Maybe better to start by clarifying who this bike is for, and who it is not for.
If you want a bike that is in very good to good condition, want a guarantee, and are not into maintaining and fixing bikes yourself, then close this ad and move on - this bike is not for you.
If you want a lightweight 650 DS bike of the caliber of a DR but dont have a lot of money, are mechanically minded, can fix things that break, and dont care too much about looks (see my home made side covers for example), or can improve on it yourself,....then read on. If you know your way around DR's then even better. This was my fourth.
I bought this bike with the above mindset and over time i set about going through it and steadily improving it to the extent that i now use it like a motard for my short commute through the suburbs to work and, until recently, also for its intended purpose on the dirt.
Trying to cover all that here will be too time consuming. Best thing to do if interested is to come and have a look and let me take you through it, front to back.
Bottom line is that it is a DR and there are not many fully functional, licensed and roadworthy DR's at R27k available.....and that with a bloody nice and near-brand new Yoshimura pipe too. If i had any sense i would take it off and sell it seperately...which i might still do if you want to squeeze me on price.
Bike is in Pretoria. I will keep it on here for a few days and then to Marketplace prior to the weekend.
I will take more pictures tomorrow.
