Has anyone done the following trip before and can recommend routes (and perhaps also accommodation, if you know of great places)!? I heard that the N2 roughly between Kokstad and Mthatha, if I remember correctly, ought to be avoided for crime safety reasons -- does anyone have more specific knowledge on which specific stretch of the N2 should be avoided?
This is our preliminary itinerary:
day 1: Durban —> Port Edward 170km
day 2: port edward —> port st. johns 198km
day 3: port st. johns —> coffee bay 186km
day 4: coffee bay —> east london 281 km
day 5: east london —> hogsback 146 km
day 6: hogsback —> addo elefant park 228km
day 7: addo elefant park —> jeffreys bay 116km
day 8: jeffreys bay —> nature’s valley (plettenberg bay) 240 km
