Well like TornadoF5 say's "ALL WILL BE WELL IN THE END, IF ALL IS NOT WELL, THEN IT'S NOT THE END"

We started the weekend all wide eyed and bushy tailed, met the most amazing folk, had an awesome time. This was to be Tiger'sM8 first Bash and she was not to be dissapointed, unlike a Rally a bash is rustig and Des doesn't enjoy Rally's, so she was a bit of a skeptic, but will give anything a go. She is now I am happy to say "hooked" already looking forward to the National Bash  ;D

Had a fantastic time with you guy's, thanks!

On the return home on Sunday we rode through to Patensie, stopping to take pics of the area, water crossings and the group of folk we rode with. We were site seeing lekker, till the last bridge at Bruintjieskraal.......... as we approached the fording, which is a concrete causeway with bollards on either side with the river flowing below, the join between concrete and gravel on our side was in the shadows. i am always carefull of ruts just before a concrete causeway and could not see a "lip"in the road.

The next thing I am fighting the 220kg Beast with both of us on it's back, he flicked left to right; right to left, trying to throw his load onto the pavement at 60kph (doesn't seem fast). Holding on and trying to calm this monster, aware that my loving wife and precious cargo is right behind me wondering what the hell is going on with her normally sedate and calm hubby and rider. Understand my greatest fear as a biker is falling and hurting my wife, who for 30yrs has entrusted her safety and well being to me, without incident. This is all going through my mind as I try to control the bucking bronco with a blown-out front tyre, on a bridge over a river............calm Tiger calm (Literally going through my head). I managed to lay the bike on it's side about halfway across the bridge, without slamming down too hard, but the rough concrete is merciless on our gear, ripping boots, jackets, pants and gloves. I slide with the bike and Des rolls and bounces behind me, all through this talking to her on the intercom, just to hear her voice and knowing she is ok is all I am concerned with.

The world stops moving, I lay still, all the while speaking to Des, making sure she is OK. Do my after crash check, Legs.....check, Arms....check, Body.....check, Head..........check - ok I know my mates will say I am not missing anything in the head as it is all gone already!  ::)

Marius (Daskop) was directly behind me and wondered, why I was swerving for a pothole that wasn't there, he reckons the whole deal went down in slow motion, Marius if you have footage on your Go-Pro, please can you let me have a copy. Not long and AntH, Swartbaard, Nobody and their friend in the bakkie arrive too. Beagle Boy and Jakkie were also behind us and stopped to assist.
Guy's, to you a GREAT BIG THANK YOU, you were amazing, you made a huge difference in a situation that could easily have been a Tragedy, instead it is a Testimony. Ant and Johan started changing the tyre of the KTM and sorting the machanicals, Jacque, Marius and Jackie sorted Des and I, Eddie was making sure everyone was ok and attending to all kinds of needs from Coke to compressors as only he does. You guy's are hero's!

Des , what a trooper got back on the KTM as the guy's had sorted out the blow-out and sorted what needed to be sorted, we then rode out to Tolbos for Lunch and a thankfully, uneventful trip back to PE.

I took Des to the doctor on our return and he gave her some meds and booked her off till Wednesday, she is still zonked on the good stuff. She was bruised and sore, nothing broken or torn thankfully. As I write she is Sleeping off the effects of the muscle relaxants.
I don't have a single mark on me, not even a bruise, I was a bit stiff for 2 days, but that is the extent of my injuries.

Anybody who rides without protective gear is just silly, if it wasn't for our gear our injuries would have been alot worse, no doubt in my mind.
God is good and had His hand of protection on us, this I believe without a shadow of a doubt, I am not that good a rider. There was so much that could have harmed us and our bike and this is the extent of our loss - our clothing.

Not withstanding the incident, last night Tiger'sM8 asks if I want to get a KTM990R, I declined for now..........as my trusty steed is a hard act to follow..........maybe in a while  ;)

To Gerad and Lyn, all the guy's that called and showed concern, thanks to you all - especially our Heros in a time of need.

To our Riding partners for the weekend, AntH; Li; Laurika; Tweets and Knuclehead, thanks for a lekker ride and weekend, looking forward to the next one.

To Matt (Bikegear), Brenton (Automotorcycles) thanks for all your help in healing the Beast, you're stars  :thumleft:

AntH measured the slide marks 43m, some of the marks is caused by steering the front on the Rim the rest is the slide.

Hey Tiger jy moet mooi ry met daai "maid" van jou man!!!! :deal: :eek7: :peepwall:
So glad you both OK :thumleft:

Again, we're glad you guys are OK. A weel as the others that got injured along the way.

I think I can now breath a sigh of relief that the Bash riding went off well again, with no-one that got injured and won't recover to ride again.

Thanks Guy's, we were more fortunate than some other guy's in the injury and damage dept, I wish them each a speedy recovery and return to riding :thumleft:

ChrisL, sy en Li het die naam gekies, sy moet nou daarmee saam lewe............ in Engels is dit reg, maar as dit in Afrikaans gespreek word  :imaposer: (Ek dink al ons vrouens voel so misbruik partykeer)  ;D
