About 2 months ago I had AIRAGE pipes put onto my 990 at Adventure MX and so far I must say I am VERY happy with them -they came at an excellent price (compared to some of the imported after-market pipes), they look good on the bike, they sound GREAT, and my fuel consumption seems better as well. The bike idles fine and I have had absolutely no issues since installing the new pipes.
But, the past weekend I bumped into another rider who asked if I had had the Akra exhaust map loaded when I got the pipes, which I have not.
I am not sure 100% what the purpose of this would be so was wondering if anybody could explain to me:
1. Exactly what is achieved by loading the Akra mapping?
2. Can I keep riding without it as I have been doing for 2 months now with no issues, or is it essential that I have the mapping loaded?
3. If so, where can I get the exhaust mapping loaded and how much does it cost more or less?
Cheers, ride safely.
