Expected lifespan of a bike

I was just wondering what is the expected number of kms you can get out of a bike before the repair costs outweigh the cost of a new bike? With a car at about 300 000km is getting rather tired, so what about bikes? Also which WDs bike has done the most km? My KLR has just turned 10k so it not me! Groenie has done 43 000, whose has done the most?
