My 650 has developed a leak again under the water pump again. I repaired it about three years ago when I made my own shaft. We used a dowel pin and sparked the hole through for the drive pin for the gears on the shaft. It has given me no problems all this time and now I see it is starting to leak again.
I will make another shaft but I want to make one before I strip her down. My only problem is I don't have the diameter of the shaft on the drawing we made up. All the other dimensions are there except the diameter of the shaft.
This time though I am going to make up a shaft and have it hardened and then chromed and ground to size. I think the dowel was still a bit soft and has now worn a groove where the seal runs on it.
Does anyone know what the diameter of the drive shaft should be?
