Some very good news:
Fitting an Eagle Lever into your brand new KLR does NOT void your warranty - but it makes your KLR run smoother, quieter and with less wear of eth expensive balancer chain:
My request e- mailed to KMSA:
Good afternoon,
I have a technical question with regards to a Kawasaki motorcycle and a technical modification of the motorcycle whilst still under warranty:
The bike in question is a KLR650
The bike is under warranty.
The owner wants to fit a minor modification to the engines balancer chain mechanism called an "Eagle lever".
Feel free to look the relevant part up on the internet, it has been around for decades and one can safely say it is an improvement on the OEM KLR600 & KLR650 engines making them run quieter, vibrate less and wear slower.
The owner was told by a staff member of Kawasaki South in Cape Town that fitting the Eagle lever would void the motorcycles warranty.
An all including warranty exclusion after fitment of a non OEM part sounds strange to me and does IMHO not show any technical background?
I obviously agree that after fitment of a non OEM part the part itself or any consequential damage caused by its fitment would not be covered by the warranty but I do not see any connection to unrelated components and sub - assemblies and can see no justification of a total invalidation of the warranty.
I would appreciate if you could clarify this.
Kind regards

Good day Mr Buchelt,
To answer your query re the fitment of aftermarket parts, customers are free to fit what ever aftermarket parts they wish, but should there be a failure of any component and the failure is found to be related to the aftermarket parts fitted, it will not be covered under the warranty system.

Gavin Lightfoot.
