It's been a while, like four months to the day since we last went on a ride due a heavy metal removal opp i had. To delay things further on my side the "Tyrasuares Tenere" as the neighbour calls it, is still in for repairs. So with a little help from good friend Eikeboom who is got the new DR650 and a KLE500 and Engelsman on DRZ400 a set  of wheels was organised and off we were yesterday at about 7H30am. To early for the winter but with 3 to 400kms to go better start early. Over sir Lowrys into Grabouw and then swing left to Villiersdorp with mountains with snowpeaks in the backround. Thanks to good leather gloves and a fleece top under touring jacket only the knees really got cold, but a quick stop for filter coffee in Villiersdorp did not hurt the intestines. Engelsman had to put 2 litres petrol in the DR's peanut tank and we saw a couple of vintage tractors passing through as there was a show on, check out the low profiles on the massey with a chrome exhaust pipe tip. Couple of kays otherside Villiersdorp we took a right to Robertson, going onto dirt for the first time its was nice to smell that early fresh dust. More later

So flying along the dirt roads(old fart flying speed) was a lot of fun and the odd waterhole in the road and the greenery made for beautiful  scenery now slightly warmer as we were out of the shaded mountain areas. Quickly we ended up in Robertson ready for a Wimpy breakfast which went down with a Mega coffee. On the road to Mcgregor we stopped at the donkey sanctuary and then a slow drive through the town which now at 11am was starting to wake up. Straight through town up the mountain we travelled  on the nice dirt roads with a cutting up a mountain pass which sort of devides the Karoo and the coastal overland area. Stopping on the way, see modern winery and on top for couple of pics and taking in the beauty.  Turning back just out of town we turned onto the Stormsvlei/Bonnievale road, exellent dirt highway again.

We stopped at the Stormsvlei hotel and after the two seniors with me charmed the two ladies at the shop about where is the hidden back roads to Riviersonderend as we did not want to go onto the dreadfull N2. As they both came out with smiles and Eike had purchased a jar of olives i knew they were onto something. We turned back a little, crossed the "sonderend river" i think and turned left and found a nice little road with a couple of stream crossings and about 5 gates to open and close we ended up travelling more than halfway back to Riviersonderend on dirt. Riviersonderend being its normal sleepy hollow at best was good and clean as always but  this time we bypassed the Pie shop at the top of town as the Robertson Wimpy breakfast was still blocking all the holes. As for that Mega coffee, bad idea, stopped 5 times for bladder breaks. A couple of kays out of town we tuned onto the Greyton/Genadedal road which was in good condition for quick riding. This was a first time i've ridden the KLE and it goes well, absolute lazyboy comfy seat and geared for high speed touring. Easi handling, starting and feeling nice and nimble on these roads more so than my old Tenere. Anyway flying off to Greyton enjoying the the scenery on what looks like a clay road, shiny as can be and i'm sure a lot of fun with a couple of raindrops on it

Arriving in Greytown, we fuelled and went and sat down in the main road watching life go by while eating naartjies. As the clock was ticking we soon left and were off towards Genadedal and turned off shortly there after onto dirt again through the canola and lucern fields, F___en mooi, photos don't do the justice. Past the prison and towards Villiersdorp and left to grabouw and on the N2 coming over Sir Lowrys to a silver sky and a hazy Cape Town. Thanks to the my maats!
