I need some help with a small issue that had me stranded yesterday.
I started the bike which was in neutral, I know this cause I could move the bike without the clutch. The gear lever indicator showed 2nd. I thought it was weird but tried to start the bike, it would not start, even when I pulled in the clutch, it would not start.
So I dropped the bike down a cog (now in 1st) and the indicator was blank no neutral light, nothing. Tried starting it again and even with the clutch pulled in it would not budge. I took my wifes bike to work and called Bavarian. The techie there told me that sometimes, the sensor for the gear lever indicator can get wet and then it will read incorrectly. However, he stated that it should start with the clutch pulled in.
So this morning I try it again, this time when pushing the bike into first, the neutral light comes on and the bike will start! No clutch needed and on the side stand, keep in mind it is now in first gear. So I decide to take it to Bavarian, as I begin riding, the gears 'fix' themselves. Start reading the correct gear after being one gear out. So not wanting to waste the guys time at Bavarian because I actually had nothing to show them, I headed for work instead.
So please tell me, is this indicator thing an issue? Where is it so I can keep it dry! This had me stranded so I want to try and prevent this from happening again.
Any help would be appreciated.
