Just had an incident where I had a small mishap and had the bike fall over onto its right hand side. The engine was still running but died of its own accord. After being lifted again, it started but then immediately cut out and refused to start after that.
Werfetter2 was with me at the time and we tried disconnecting the battery to reset the ECU but this did not resolve anything. Eventually the battery died (albeit much sooner than it should have). A call to Beemerman and he recommended lying the bike over on the left hand side for a while and then trying again but by then the battery had died completely.
BMW on call were very good and we were collected by a tow vehicle and taken home to PE (from outside Hanover!).
Continental BMW PE have just notified me that one cell in the battery was shot and other than that, all they could think of was fuel starvation as there was very little fuel in the tank! Ironically, the fuel gauge had been playing up and I when I had filled up in Hanover the day before, it indicated only a 200km range. In retrospect, I had been puzzled by the small amount of fuel required to 'fill'(only about R75). Maybe I should have paid more attention when the petrol attendant filled up!
Any dogs had any similar experiences before?
