GSA subframe question

I want to take my subframe off to straighten and weld/strengthen it but I just want to confirm something first with you guys. Should the tube on the pics be straight?  The one running above the footpegs. It looks like it on a Google search but they are bent so nice and symmetrically.  ;D
Any popular mods/ pitfalls will be appreciated as well.
