Trying to install new hand-guards due to a heavy fall, and had to remove bar-end from clutch handlebar. It seems to act as reducer & extender.
I seem to have difficulty fitting new hand-guard bolts without these bits, although new hand-guards do come with adaptors, it feels a bit flimsy.
