Has anybody converted their Venter trailer into a bike trailer?

I've just bought a bargain Venter 6ft trailer with nose-cone, I'm thinking of fastening 2 pieces of channel iron in the base so that it can double as my bike trailer when the need arises. The trailer has a removeable tailgate and lid, there will however have to be a channel overhang of about 40cm at the rear of the trailer to make the bike fit. What do you think is this a bad idea?....will the trailer be stable enough....any thoughts on this will be appreciated.
