Regulator Rectifiers (RR) HATE heat and must remain cool to do their job. If they get too hot they fail and will overcharge / undercharge the battery and this can leave you stranded. New RR's cost a lot of money nevermind the frustration of being stuck somewhere

Unfortunately on our beloved SE's the designers mounted the RR right above the exhausts - not a good place

I heard that Junior Joubert (fellow SE owner) of JJ ENGINEERING in Montague Gardens Cape Town (021 555 4789 or 082 893 2318) makes a very tidy heat shield to avoid all the above possible problems

It is a well made aluminium plate that replaces the original mounting bracket - costs R160 and takes 5 minutes to fit - I can tell you it works like a charm and you can feel no heat radiation above the plate or on the RR

He also makes up a very neat little luggage plate for the SE and various other goodies for racing bikes - give him a call or pop into his workshop at 12 Stella Road to see what he can do for you
