Hello out there fellow dogs, 14H24 Thursday 28th April
I took a call from Mike from Australia,
He has arrived in Calvinia off the R355 to find his wheel bearings on the rear wheel have collapsed.
He is on a 2008 F 800GS.
Riding from Cape Town to Botswana.
The wheel bearings for the wheel are 20x47x14 two of them
The bearings for the sprocket drive unit are both a 6204 - 2RSH
See the photos off REALOEM.com
If you know of a fishing rod or are nearby and can give him a fish, I am sure he will appreciate it.
I am busy trouble shooting with him now.
Asking him to remove rear wheel and see if all four bearings are kaput or just the drive unit bearings.
But as the wheel is feeling loose it may be the only the wheel itself and these are very standard bearings..
However, given he may have ridden some distance- still very hot, then he may have cooked the housing or the shaft.
