And then Kim’s 690 started spluttering......[emoji35]

At first we thought it was a loose or wet connection. The dash had been dead since the bike drowned, but was running fine......

We spent around 2 hours stripping the bike, checking connections, fuel pump, injector, spark plug etc, but nothing helped

Eventually we made the difficult decision.....

Kim would be towed to first sign of civilisation where we would leave him behind and continue on our way back to Nelspruit.  Kim would be picked up by his dad. Saay decided to stay with Kim at the drop off point.

Mark and I continued on our way, with just over 140km to go

I know some of the older 690's are "allergic" to water. Wonder what went wrong here?

The two big bikes ride well together  and the pace picked up significantly. We rode for kilometres on end on the railway service roads from Thulamahashe  before we turned into the koppies towards Hazyview. It was riding bliss and thoroughly enjoyable!

Snack break late afternoon under a Mango tree in the middle of nowhere

We had lost a lot of time with Kim’s breakdown and it was already lte afternoon when we rode into Hazyview. Decision was made to abandon the last part of our planned route and head home on the R40
