I recently bought a 2005 Honda CRF 250R. The bike is super clean and from just looking at the bike you can see that the bike was never abused.

However I bought the bike over a distance from Newcastle and by brother in law brought it up for me. The only issue known to the owner was that it battled to start when cold and hot. He promised me and swore high and low that there were no other issues.

So the bike arrived and I had the valve clearances done as well as new tyres and carb service.

Well, obviously the valve clearances aren't the only problem as the bike has a noise on the main bearing and smokes. So it seems I have been taken for a ride. I tried to sell the bike as is, but no one seems to be interested as soon as they hear there are issues to be sorted.

I am going to do a top and bottom end rebuild on the bike. I will start dismantling the motor this afternoon. Will post pictures as I go along. I have a shop manual.

Hopefully this post will help other people and also I can get some tips along the way.
