How Fast is your Bike Really ? Do not add a few extra kmph

Just wondering what is wrong with my Dakar. I read  in the forum of how fast some bikes are.Manufacturer specs say Dakar can do 170kmh. I WISH. Mine seems to clock out at 148 on gravel. Then i hear the 640 adv KTM can do 160kmph as per factory specs. Still need to find a 640 that can drill my Dakar on top end have had a run against 2 recently. Kawasaki KLR650 specs say 150. Do the factory misinform us or what. Give me some input please , trying to figure out the real speed of some bikes. Is it gearing weight of rider altitude is my speedo not working properly or WHAT?
