How to repair small cuts and gashes on your motorbike seat

Yesterday I was carrying in long lengths of 8mm steel into the workshop , I had a bit of a concentration lapse and the end of one of the pieces nicked my motorbike seat leaving a very small gash 1cm on the seat . I dont want to do a recover of the seat and want to do something to prevent this small gash getting bigger . Is there anything I can do to fix this ?
My neighbour suggested using a tube patch but I think this will be unsightly .
