Big Dom, as a HP2 owner of just over a year, allow me to dispense some wisdom regarding HP2 ownership.

You really, really need to want to own a HP2 to be happy with it in the long run. It's seat is very uncomfortable if you do more than 300km. It has not counter-balancer shaft, so it vibrates a lot. The tank is puny (but Gert Becker makes a lekker 7.5 lt underseat tank - I'm more than happy). No ABS, no heated grips (though this can be sorted, either with OE BMW parts or aftermarket units. No wind protection, but once again, aftermarket products are your friend.

If you can accept these shortcomings, my friend, you'll be the owner of the world's only 1200cc desert racer with a 21-inch front tyre, semi-decent suspension (the shortcomings are relatively easy to cure), tubeless tyres and that great invention called the shaft drive. Add to that a near bullet-proof engine and it's smile, smile, smile. Oh, and then I won't even mention it's erection-inducing looks. Or it's limited-availability (short hand for envy  :biggrin status.

BUT, then you have to be prepared to look past its shortcomings. Because some guys can't. And that is not the fault of the bike. It's the fault of people who didn't do their homework and bought what was right for their specific needs. The HP2 is not the best bike in the world, nor the answer to everyone's prom queen fuck fantasy.

But for me, it's like a night out with a porn star, every time I press that starter button. Scneller! Schneller! Tiefer! Ja, ich bin geil! Ich komme!  >
