We are a couple of bikers doing a cheer-up visit to Huis Horison this Sunday. It is not a charity run or a fundraiser. Huis Horison is a home for mentally disabled persons and we are just going to visit them, (they actually love to be around bikes, for them it is a big deal) have a short service with them and then probably do a quick 200km loop - Helshoogte - Franschoek - Theewaterskloof - Rooihoogte - Die Bos Dam - Karwyderskraal - Highlands - Grabouw - Strand. 220km 50% dirt. There is a couple of roadbikes splitting of at theewaterskloof to come back via Rooiels so roadbikes welcome too. Leave from Lourensrivier churh c/o Broadway and Da Gama Str Strand at 10:00 am sharp.
Just wanna add this poem that describe to me why one want to visit places like Huis Horison
I am the disabled.
I am your teacher. If you allow me,
I will teach you what is really important in life.
I will give you and teach you unconditional love.
I gift you with my innocent trust, my dependency upon you.
I teach you about how precious this life is and about not taking things for granted.
I teach you about forgetting your own needs and desires and dreams.
I teach you giving.
Most of all I teach you hope and faith.
I am the disabled.
