I'm looking to buy a GPS unit for my offroading adventures - Cederburg dirt, any dirt btw Cape Town and the Drakensberg should give you an idea of my plans. I've been recommended a Garmin Montana. The new ones are pretty eye-wateringly expensive but I have the option of buying 2nd hand units on eBay in the USA and am looking at the older models such as the 610, 650, 680, 700. Has anyone had experience with any of these models in the areas I'm planning to ride in? I reckon the Montani 650 will do what I need it to do just as well as the 750 would?
Also, for the those using the Montana, what mount are you using?
I have seen the Etrex getting good reviews to. Would I be better off getting one of those instead of the Montana?
