Is it just me? Thinking twice about taking bike.

There have been many bike accidents lately and the last one the fatal crash of Bucc from Think Bike.
Normally I would jump on the bike to do the light duty stuff but today I am hesitant. I got the bike out, ready to go but I could not get on yet.  I'm taking the bakkie.

Is it just me that is worried or do you experience the same?  How does one deal with this?
