Although I do have reservations taking kids on public roads on unlicensed bikes.  :

Precautions were taken but there will always be risks.

The kids had to study the licence material and had to pass with >80% or they were not allowed to ride.

I have done trips like these before and so has ROV-Rat, so we have some experience in undertaking a ride like this. There was one short section of tar (no traffic encountered) but to be honest the only section I was really worried about was Swartberg Pass. Vehicles tend to take those turns wide. Extra precautions were taken there. I have to guess, but I'd guess we saw <10 vehicles over the 2 days.

It's risk vs reward. We took it. The kids will remember this for a lifetime.

But I understand if another would not take the chance. To each his own.

This is Jon-Jon posting.

It was lots of fun. The riding was great! We had a great time catching frogs in the pool and throwing them at Paddaman. We must convince The Help to organise another ride ASAP.

It was great! Really enjoyed the ride into The Hell. Swartberg Pass view is really nice. The watercrossings were great! It was a long drive in the bakkie but it was worth it. You have some great pics. :thumleft:
